Audits of Public Enterprises in Nepal
Article Abstract:
Public enterprises of Nepal, as those of other nations, are generally set up for service-oriented, as opposed to profit-making purposes. Historical background on audit control has been developing since the establishment of the Office of the Auditor General in 1959. As of 1978, audits are done by the federal government of Nepal when they own majority shares, only if they are not able to submit audit reports within six months of the end of the fiscal year. The Auditor General determines objectives and goals prior to auditing. Fourteen points of concern are listed that the Auditor General evaluates. The scope of the audit may be altered, due to time and costs, objectives, and many other factors.

Public finances and Labour's first budget
Article Abstract:
The UK government has to devise a budget in mid-1997 that will curb demand, avoid an accumulation of public debt and alter the tax structure to fit with its economic aims. Income tax rates cannot be raised so other measures will have to be used such as limiting personal allowances to basic tax rates. There is concern that the UK budget deficit is higher than it should be, taking the economic cycle into account, though tax revenue could increase as employment rises. Tighter fiscal policy can be used with tighter monetary policy to help curb demand.
