Five ring circus: Olympic bid intended to sanction regime's authority
Article Abstract:
China is gearing up to vie for the chance to host the 2000 Olympics Games in Peking. The Chinese government is reportedlydoing everything it can to make sure the International Olympic Inspection Committee (IOIC) grants it the privilege of hosting the 2000 games. The IOIC visited China Mar 1993 to inspect the country's sports facilities and infrastructure to see if it is capable of holding the Olympic Games. Other capital cities vying for the 2000 Olympics include Sydney, Istanbul, Manchester, Berlin, Milan and Brasilia. Of these countries, none matches China's fervor in clinching the coveted chance.
