Although Keppel Telecommunications and Transportation has entered into New Economy businesses, the action has not changed its share price. Market-watchers have been looking at Keppel's 35% stake in Singapore's M1, yet some fund managers and investors stated that market analysts are not convinced that the firm's long-term prospects are strong enough to purchase in at current levels.

Vodafone challenges NTT DoCoMo with western ideals
Article Abstract:
Vodafone Group intends to issue a tender that would give it a 66.7 percent stake in Japan Telecom, as well as a 69.7 percent stake in its J-Phone mobile unit. Vodafone would become the largest non-Japanese company in the telecommunications market in the country upon completion of the deal.

Mobilized to consolidate

Taiwan Cellular Corp. is buying a 97% stake in TransAsia Telecommunications Inc. for NT$13.5 billion ($110.6 million). The acquisition is seen as a move toward industry consolidation in order to stop a similar bid backed by AT and T Wireless Group.
