Flextronics starts production in Brno
Article Abstract:
Flextronics International (FI) (Brno, Czech Republic), electronic company, plans to employ 3,000 persons in the Industrial Park in Brno by 2005. The firm started production in the first hall of the complex, which is to occupy an area of 50 ha, on 03 Nov 2000. The hall was built in a record-breakingly short time of 105 days. Among other things, FI will produce digital televisions and ASDL modems for numerous world firms in Brno. The firm is part of the same-name US company, which will be able to increase its expansion to Central and Eastern Europe due to the Industrial Park in Brno.

IBM will set up a new expert centre in Brno
Article Abstract:
IBM (US), information technology supplier, will set up a new information technology centre in Brno, the Czech Republic, from 2001. The firm co-operates with the municipal authorities of the city of Brno and the foreign investment agency Czechinvest (Czech Republic) in the project. CEK 360 mil will be invested in the project of the centre, which will be placed in the Technological Park in Brno-Zabovresky. The centre will employ about 200 information technology specialists during the first stage. If the project succeeds, the number could double.

Panasonic TV sets from Plzen to all Europe
Article Abstract:
Matsushita Television Central Europe (MTCE) (Plzen, Czech Republic), TV set manufacturer, plans to produce 1 mil TV sets per year at its plant in Plzen in 1999. The firm assembles 1,500 TV sets per day at the plant with 600 employees in the middle of 1998. The plant's construction was started in the middle of 1996. The plant expects to extend its production to 60,000 TV sets per month from September 1998. The plant is the second Panasonic TV set production plant of Matsushita (Japan) in Europe, besides a plant in Cardiff, the UK.
