Food for talk
Article Abstract:
A call has come for imports of medicine and food to be allowed into Cuba by the US, despite a trade embargo which the US is enforcing on Cuba. The House of Representatives is to consider a bill already passed by the Senate whereby licenses to sell medicine and food could be issued more easily. Senator Tom Daschle aims to take this proposed opening of trade further. The main impact of the embargo is to prevent Cuba from exporting to the US, its natural export market. Any improvement in relations between Cuba and the US is likely to take some time.
