For their next trick
Article Abstract:
Airbus has been increasing its market share at the expense of Boeing, and plans to develop a superjumbo or A3XX aircraft. Production could start by year-end 2000, with the aircraft in use by 2005. There are obstacles to the project such as disagreements over the structure of Airbus, and concerns about a drop in demand for air travel in Asia, a key potential market. Boeing, meanwhile, is seeking to update its 747 aircraft, and should benefit from any delays experienced by the Airbus project.
