Ford moves to streamline reporting structure

In an effort to make its global operations more efficient, Ford Motor Co. has instituted a new reporting structure. The heads of its three business units will all now report to CEO Alan Mulally. Ford has also appointed Derrick Kuzak as head of worldwide product development.

GM sales jump despite signs of slower economy

General Motors Corp. of the United States posted a 3.9 percent increase in automobile sales for August despite signs of a slow growth economy. Market share for Ford Motor Co. fell 11.6 percent and DaimlerChrysler AG saw decreases in sales by four percent.
