Fortis makes bid of $1.27 billion for Turkish bank

Fortis N.V. of the Netherlands has made a bid of $1.27 billion to acquire Disbank of Turkey. The acquisition would make the merged bank the largest foreign retail bank in Turkey, opening up the market as Turkey moves into membership talks with the European Union.
