Fortis net rises 94%, efficiency plan is set

Fortis N.V. of the Netherlands is planning a major management restructuring which may produce weaker financial results in the fourth quarter. The financial services company posted a 94 percent increase in net profit to 913 million Euros ($1.08 billion) from 471 million Euros of a year earlier. The stellar results are due to capital gains and a strong banking division.
