France: New Weight Watchers' recipes
Article Abstract:
Weight Watchers has launched a line of frozen multi-protein dishes to be eaten in the evening or by couples. Adding dairy products, legumes, and cereals increased the protein content of these dishes by 20%. There are four dishes ranging from 690 grams to 710 grams, and priced at EUR 5.75 to EUR 5.95. The varieties are a seafood paella with scallops, Indian-style chicken, Provencal style chicken, and bacon ham in an omelette with peppers and tomatoes. There will be a television advertising campaign starting in April 2002 to back these new products as well as a EUR 1.22 reduction on the second purchase. Weight Watchers is going to launch new varieties such as crayfish and farfalle pasta in coral sauce. The company is going to abandon its Premium, Easy, and Duo segmentation and will provide more informative packaging.

FRANCE: PACKAGING CHANGE FOR LORENZ BAHLSEN SNACKS
Article Abstract:
The French savoury snacks group, Lorenz Bahlsen Snacks France, part of the German group, Bahlsen, is going to change the packing for several of its famous crisp snack brands. After 40 years since it was launched, Bahlsen's Curly snack will take on the name of Lorenz, as part of a clear packaging strategy. Munster Munch and the Baf brand will also take the new name, its Stackers brand will take the new name, Crunchips. The first arrivals of the new-look packaging is scheduled for May 2001. Its fruit and nuts brand, Aperifruit, which keeps the Bahlsen name until 2003, will launch a new range, Aperigraines, also in May. The change should not change the group's strategy, and commented that it is defending a precise strategy, that the success of a product is connected to a concept, and not to its brand name.
