France Telecom S.A. is expanding its presence in Africa to counter slower growth in Europe. The African market comprises 6%, or $4.3 bil, of France Telecom's revenue per year. France Telecom outbid other firms for deals to operate in Niger and Kenya, and is attempting to secure a majority stake in Ghana Telecom's privatization.
