From Moravia to the end of the world

Moravske naftove doly (MND) (Czech Republic), oil and gas company, will raise its oil and gas extraction in 1998. In 1997 the company extracted 189,000 cu mt of crude oil and 100.2 mil cu mt of natural gas from its 22 deposits in the Czech Republic. More than 60% of MND oil come from the Damborice deposit and most of MND natural gas is from the Podvorov deposit. MND is now doing surveys in other deposits. MND oil is used primarily for further processing in the chemical industry. It is supplied to Petrochema (Dubova, Slovakia), Technopetrol (Slovakia), Paramo (Pardubice, Czech Republic) and OeMV (Austria). In co-operation with Transgas (Czech Republic), MND is building two underground gas storage tanks. The first one should have a capacity of 180 cu mt and should be completed in Uhrice by the end of 1999. MND has a 49.78% stake held by SPP Bohemia (Czech Republic). SPP Bohemia is a joint venture between Slovensky plynarensky podnik (Slovakia) and Moravia systems (Hodonin, Czech Republic) and is involved primarily in the gas industry.

Mana falls from Moravia

Euronova (Brno, Czech Republic), trade food products firm, will extend the network of its Czech shops in 1998, in spite of growing competition. The firm's network of Mana supermarkets included 81 shops in September 1998. Besides, Euronova operates Sesam discount shops, Prima megamarkets and Hypernova hypermarkets in the Czech Republic. Euronova saw total proceeds of 8.1 bil Kc and was in the second position among food retailers in the Czech Republic in 1997. The firm is a subsidiary of the multinational concern Royal Ahold (Netherlands), which entered Moravia in the Czech Republic in 1991.

Moravia Steel receives a loan
Article Abstract:
Trinecke zelezarny (TZ) (Trinec, Czech Republic), metallurgy firm, received a loan of USD 40 mil in a group with Moravia Steel (MS) (Czech Republic) in Jan 2001. The group arranged a contract on the medium-term syndicated credit with HSBC Bank (Germany) and Dresdner Bank (Germany). The credit, which should be redeemed by 2003, will be drawn in tranches worth CEK 1.28 bil and EUR 9.2 mil.
