From little acorns: Malaysian firm in huge Iran deal
Article Abstract:
A small Malaysian cable and construction company Ekran Bhd signed a contract with Iran on Dec 14, 1992 to take on six development projects. Five projects on Iran's Qeshm Island free-trade zone are the construction of a 1,000-room hotel, a liquefied natural gas (LNG) complex, 4,000 units of employee housing and fish-processing and furniture factories. The sixth project is a 1,000-room hotel and commercial complex in Teheran. The project-completion period is three years, and Ekran is raising finances through international credit markets.

Article Abstract:
Malaysia Prime Minister Mohamad Mahathir and Swiss rainforest activist Bruno Manser have been engaged in a series of written heated exchanges over Malaysia's logging activities. Both men have also met at the Earth Summit in Brazil to thresh out differences. At issue is the government-led logging activity in the forests of Sarawak which Manser so vigorously opposes on behalf of the indigenous tribes.
