GLOBAL CORPORATE GOVERNANCE BOARD ROPES IN RATAN +
Article Abstract:
The Chairman of the $8.42 billion Tata group, Mr Ratan Tata has been inducted into a high profile global corporate governance advisory board established by Egon Zehnder International (EZI). The board has been set up, among other purposes, to help preserve the free market system by ensuring that corporations all over the world are governed appropriately. Mr Tata will formally attend the board's next meeting to be held in March 1998. Mr Tata was invited to join the board as he is considered one of the best known leaders in India and an international personality. The board has a five-year schedule and each year it will discuss issues pertaining to corporate governance and priorities that ought to be researched over the year and EZI will fund all research work. PENTAFOUR GROUP TO RECAST BOARD

Pentafour Group, Chennai plans is restructuring its board. The restructuring is based on a report prepared by Merrill and Lynch. The number of representatives from the promoters family in the board has been reduced. Only two members from the promoters family are permitted in one company's board. Group chairman, Mr Ramakrishna has resigned from the boards of Pentafour Software & Exports Ltd and Pentafour Communications Ltd. (vv)
