Article Abstract:
Gujarat Narmada Fertilisers Corporation (GNFC) recorded 6 percent growth in net profits during 1997-98. Sales of fertilisers increased by 29.8 percent and sales of chemicals by 20 percent. GNFC produced 1.47 lakh tonnes of methanol with a capacity utilisation of 124 percent. It produced 9,314 tonnes of formic acid in 1997-98, with a capacity utilisation of 181 percent. Its scrip trades at Rs20-22. MMTC GEARS UP FOR CHANGE, TO REDESIGN BUSINESS PROCESSES
Article Abstract:
MMTC Ltd has decided to implement business process re-engineering (BPR) to increase its operational efficiency, bring down costs and effectively deal with customer needs. This is the first time a public sector undertaking has opted for BPR. It has appointed NIIT, Delhi to undertake the BPR. MMTC plans to design and review its key business processes. It plans to create value additions and also intends to develop information technology infrastructure. NIIT will study the core competency divisions of MMTC like minerals, metals, fertilisers, precious metals and agro- products and complete the BPR in about four months. (rk)(vr)
