COMPOSTING PLANT TO BE SET UP IN MYSORE
Article Abstract:
The Mysore City Corporation proposes to establish a composting plant for generating fertiliser from solid wastes in the city. The plant will have a capacity to process about 200 tonnes of garbage daily and may cost Rs3.13 crore. The plant is slated to be set up on a turnkey basis. The turnkey company will have to supply and install machinery, operate the unit and market the fertilisers manufactured by the unit. This is part of the Rs4.49-crore solid waste management project which is funded by the Asian Development Bank. (uh)

NOVO NORDISK TO FUND ENZYME PROJECT OF MYSORE VARSITY
Article Abstract:
The Mysore University's enzyme project will be funded by Novo Nordisk (NN) of Denmark. NN, which is a world leader in enzyme screening, will contribute technology and knowhow to the researchers in India. In return, NN will get access to micro- organisms collected by these researchers. The research is for collection, isolation and screening of fungal isolates for finding their cellulose producing capabilities. (gs)
