Game on in the gaming industry
Article Abstract:
The management buyout of Maygay Machines, manufacturer of amusement machines for a range of markets, indicates that funding can be obtained for such a deal even in cases where cash flows fluctuate. European Leisure accepted an offer from 3i in Oct 1997, with exclusivity being granted until the end of 1997. This allowed 3i to put together a team to deal with the complex transaction. Advice on funding was obtained from Price Waterhouse Corporate Finance, while Pinsent Curtis provided advice on legal issues. Debt finance was provided by Barclays Bank.

The shape of things to come?
Article Abstract:
It is expected that the ongoing strategies by companies to divest non-core business will keep professional advisers in the West Midlands busy in 1997. The region's mergers and acquisitions sector is dominated by large, complicated deals, but total negotiations are likely to be fewer in number. The motive for such deals is not necessarily financial and many venture capital companies are backing individuals, sometimes known as serial entrepreneurs, who are involved in more than one transaction.
