'Gastronomical' delights
Article Abstract:
The conversion of a former department store in Peterborough, England, into a restaurant is being masterminded by Pizza Express pioneer Peter Boizot. Gaston's was completed in September 1999, mediated by Studio MG whose task was to fit out the interior. Surfaces are tiled and mirrored, while a sprayed black ceiling and spotlights add drama and a huge painting dominates one wall. The underground car park has been converted into cloakrooms where mirrored ceilings provide an illusion of extra height.
