Georgia-Pacific to buy Unisource Worldwide

Georgia-Pacific Corp. has reached an agreement to acquire Unisource Worldwide Inc. for $840 million. The deal is an attempt by Georgia-Pacific to reduce its costs. However, investors raised concerns over Georgia-Pacific's understanding of the distribution industry. Investors were also worried about Unisource's financial struggles in recent years. In the year ending September 30, 1998, Unisource posted a $231.8 million loss.
