Texas Instruments to buy Unitrode in stock deal

Texas Instruments Inc. announced that it will purchase Unitrode Corp. for $1.2 billion (1.14 billion euros) in shares. The move is an attempt by Texas Instruments to expand its semiconductor selection for portable devices. Unitrode is a company in the US that produces chips that control the consumption of power. The acquisition is also the largest that Texas Instruments has ever engaged in to strengthen its analog chips business.
