German firm is in middle of fraud probe

Phoenix Kapitaldienst GmbH of Germany is under investigation for investment fraud. The ruse had gone undetected for ten years and came to light one year after the death of Dieter Breitkreuz a top executive at the small investment house. The investment fraud could affect approximately 30,000 investors with a loss of $326.75 million in total.

EU harvests satellite images

The European Union fights farm subsidy fraud by using data gathered from military satellites to crack down on farmers who claim subsidies for crops they never grew. Under the new plan, results gathered from satellite images will be used to cross-check farmers' claims before any money is paid out.
