German unions warn of strikes, despite ECB's plea

A warning strike was launched by IG Metall, Germany's largest union, for an 8% pay raise for workers at two steel plants. IG Metall has 2.3 mil members in the industrial sector. Ver.di, a services industry union with 2.2 mil members, has announced possible warning strikes for an 8% pay raise as well. The European Central Bank has asked for the unions to lower their wage expectations.

Unions wage new strikes in Germany
