Germany's Metro plans to enter U.S. but timing unclear

Metro AG, the largest retailer in Europe, announced that it eventually plans to expand into the US market. However, the company did not offer a specific timetable for such a move. According to Hans-Joachim Koerber, the chairman of Metro, the retailer cannot afford to be out of the US market for a lengthy period of time as it attempts to become an international retail group.
