Getting Bristol shipshape: David Mellor, chairman of the trustees of Bristol Architecture Centre, takes his civic duties as seriously as his practice
Article Abstract:
David Mellor, of Alec French Partnership, believes that the practice has a solid reputation based on many award-winning buildings, including a new Citadel for the Salvation Army and accommodation for St Anne's College, Oxford. Mellor is particularly pleased with the award-winning Visitors Centre for the Bristol Development Corporation. He is aware of the harm badly designed office blocks can do to the inhabitants and feels in the right to light, space and air. He is chairman of the trustees of the Bristol Architecture Centre and is a national member of the RIBA Council, along with other duties.
