The perils of bilateral deals
Article Abstract:
The effect of the bilateral trade agreements that take place globally is evaluated. The collapse of the global bilateral agreements resulted in individual agreements with the United States posing a threat to free trade. Opinions of several trade experts on the existing scenario are presented.

January 1, 2005 will mark the end of the quota system restricting the global textile and clothing trade. The influence of this action on the economy of China and India is discussed. The challenges and problems of the transition into a quota-free era are also examined.
