Gillette earnings rise slightly in quarter

Gillette Co. posted a slight improvement in earnings for the first-quarter of 1999. The company also said that it is expecting to post a more than 10% drop in earnings for the 1999 second-quarter. Gillette, a US-based consumer products firm, has been hit hard by the unstable global economy. However, the company is predicting that it will see earnings in the double digits by the second half of 1999.
