Global airlines rise above crisis as U.S. carriers struggle

Global airlines including Asia and the European Union are financially recovering and are beginning to see cost savings after several years of reorganization with passenger demand blooming. However, several major North American airlines are operating in or near bankruptcy because of the September 11th, 2001 attacks, government intervention and pressure from competition.

Gasoline-futures prices decline
Article Abstract:
Prices of gasoline futures on the New York Mercantile Exchange fell by approximately 6.7 cents per gallon. The price fall, taking place right after the 2003 Labor Day weekend, led to heating oil and crude oil prices declines.
