Online auction sites based in Europe believe that the US-based auction services will soon enter their market, bringing with them the ability to takeover nascent online auction market in Europe. US companies such eBay Inc, Yahoo! Inc and Amazon.com will bring strong experience and nimble management in the auction business, but some believe that European auction sites will have an advantage because they will have a better understanding of their markets and suppliers.

U.S.'s AOL plays catch-up in Europe

America Online Inc. (AOL) is introducing a flat rate pricing program in Germany. The move is intended to combat Deutsche Telekom T-Online's leading position in the German market.
