Groupaction's George takes Pub-Club reins

Montreal, Canada-based Groupaction/JWT Director of Sponsorship and Promotion Lyse George is now the president of Montreal's Publicite Club. George aims to concentrate on activities that will allow the members of the Publicite Club to learn current issues and controversial topics. She hopes to reduce the number of social activities, including the annual Christmas party. Publicite Club, which celebrates its 40th anniversary, eyes to have closer ties with other organizations such as the association representing Quebec, Canada, advertising agencies and the Mondial de la publicite francophone.

Lise Watier Cosmetics Inc, based in St Laurent, Quebec, has a powerful marketing force in the person of its president and founder Lise Watier. Since the early years, her blond face has been the center of the company's advertising. Watier is also host to a daily half-hour 'Welcome to Evasion' show on Television Quatre Saisons which the company uses as a marketing tool. The 27-year old cosmetics firm expects such a marketing strategy will attract consumers in France, the US and the rest of Canada.

Cossette tops at Coq d'or Awards

Cossette Communication Marketing won the top prize at the 40th annual Coq d'or Awards held on May 16, 2000. Cossette won the Gold prize in nine of the 20 advertising and promotional marketing categories. It garnered the Grand Coq d'or for a magazine ad called 'Chantier' for Bell Mobility. It also received Gold awards for Molson Breweries, McDonald's Restaurants, Bell Canada and Bell Mobility. Besides Cossette, the other big winner was advertising agency Bos, which picked up 12 awards.
