KERALA USHERS IN IT REVOLUTION
Article Abstract:
The Kerala government has targeted a personal computer availability of 10 per 1000 persons by 2001 AD. It plans to set up Internet kiosks in every panchayat ward which can be accessed by all. It plans to ensure that all colleges are connected to the Internet by 2000 and all schools by 2002. The government has decided to spend 3 percent of its annual budget on information technology to renovate systems and processes. (khr)

SATYAM LOGS IN Rs19.8-CR PROFIT

In the third quarter ended December 31, 1998, Satyam Computers Ltd earned a total income of Rs100.50 crore (Rs57.78 crore in the same period of 1997). Its net profit was Rs19.81 crore. It netted Rs100.27 crore through export of software (Rs46.21 crore). Its sales in India fetched Rs14.99 lakh (Rs19.37 lakh). Its annualised earning per share was Rs30.45. (kvr)
