HSBC abandons its dual listings for U.S. dollars
Article Abstract:
HSBC Holdings PLC announced that it will consolidate its two stock classes into new US dollar-denominated shares. The company also said it was attempting to gain an additional listing on the New York Stock Exchange sometime in 1999. The move will make it easier for HSBC to carry out procedures for scrip dividends, issues of stock, and buybacks. The move will also end the difference in price between HBSC's Hong Kong dollar and pound sterling-denominated shares.
