Hang on lads, I've got an idea
Article Abstract:
Printing was first developed in China, but it was not easy to mechanize printing with the Chinese alphabet, since it had many characters. Printing was later developed in Europe in the 15th century, and the pioneer was Johannes Gutenberg, a Strasbourg goldsmith who used steel blocks to make moulds for letter blocks. Print shops gradually spread, and book printing took off, as did translations from Greek and Latin to modern languages. Liguistic standards then developed as a result of this. The web is a new development that could make Californian English become standard.
