Bill Clinton promised lower taxes and political concern for the middle classes but he seems to be backing down on those promises. Gasoline tax and Social Security tax may increase with a big impact on middle America. Clinton is supporting middle class legislation such as family leave.

The Olympics have always been infused with politics, and Pres Clinton is making the most of the US-hosted 1996 Games to aid his reelection campaign. His self-proclaimed model is the 1984 Reagan campaign, but Pres Reagan did not get in the way of the Los Angeles Games' own glory.

The Clinton Administration is becoming one of partisanship instead of consensus, and their agendas resemble those of the liberal Democrats of the 1970s'. Some are beginning to believe the criticism that Clinton is a tax-and-spend liberal.
