Harvesting new ideas: Geneva's Inventors' Salon
Article Abstract:
The 26th International Exhibition of Inventions, New Techniques and Products attracted a record number of visitors because the inventions exhibited showed the high quality of ideas behind the products. Held in Palexpo, Geneva, Switzerland in 1998, the more than 1,000 inventions exhibited ranged from everyday items to high technology devices. The winner of the Grand Prix award was the ALPAZ, a portable device for soldering, brazing and cutting metals while the Oscar of Inventions award went to a continuous track to which any electrical appliance could be plugged in at any point.

It has several restaurants, a pool area with a nautical theme, a large, state-of-the-art conference center and rates that begin at 400 Swiss francs for simple rooms and go as high as 21,000 Swiss francs for luxury suites. The hotel also provides a discreet personal security service for visitors who require it.

Spending it up in Geneva
Article Abstract:
The Rue du Rhone remains one of the places to go to for shopping in Geneva, Switzerland. However, majority of the carriage-type businesses that have mushroomed along the kilometer-long street claim that business has recently been affected by recession, parking complaints, city ordinances, unwelcome new neighbors, and other recent developments. While low-budget shops abound in the area, such big names as Patek Philippe, Lacoste, Escada, Dior, Chanel and Gucci seem to have found a permanent home in Rue du Rhone.
