A personal narrative is presented describing a woman's relationship with her husband, who wanted her to remain overweight so that she would be unattractive to other men and not leave him. When she did manage to lose weight, he wanted to know who she was trying to attract.

Family secrets: are they best left untold?
Article Abstract:
A recommended policy for deciding whether or not to reveal a family secret is to determine whether telling the truth will have positive rather than negative consequences. Several cases are presented and the lessons they offer are discussed.
