Article Abstract:
Alex Lifschutz, Ian Davidson, and Paul Sandilands are the directors of Lifschutz Davidson, the architects practice which was formed in 1986. The practice combines skills in solving problems and producing modern designs with social consciousness. Lifschutz Davidson is working with Coin Street Community Builders, set up at the beginning of the 1970s as a joint venture between community groups, to improve the London South Bank, which is an ideal place for architects to make an impact.

Gustafson/Lyall team wins Crystal Palace park job
Article Abstract:
An international landscape design competition for the revival of Paxton's Crystal Palace Park in south London, England, has been won by landscape architect Kathryn Gustafson, working with engineer Alan Baxter Associates and John Lyall Architects. This team is now working with Bromley Borough Council on a bid to submit to the National Heritage Lottery Fund. The scheme includes a repeating three-hour water display which will move water through the park.

Fencer in a cut-throat world
Article Abstract:
The UK's Construction Industry Council (CIC) plans a key role in speaking on behalf of professionals working within the industry, according to chief executive Graham Watts. It now has close links with government ministers, and is actively involved in encouraging a positive attitude to multi-disciplinary education. The organisation faces many challenges, but will continue to play a vital role.
