The forging new paths of the new Prime Minister of Malaysia Abdullah Ahmad Badawi are evaluated. The administrative measures and controls with regard to the country's infrastructure projects and long-running status quo adopted by Abdullah, which distinguish himself from his predecessor Mahatir Mohamad are analyzed.

The agreement made by the Thailand and Malaysian government that would end the violence in Southern Thailand is discussed. An increase in joint border patrols and speed in economic development in the area are the efforts mad by the two countries to end the violence.
