Hierarchical Location-Allocation Problems: A Classification Scheme
Article Abstract:
Much research has been done on the p-median problem. In this research, the location of p facilities to decrease the overall weighted travel distance is highlighted. The problem is structured in light of one type of facility. Where systems for products and services are normally comprised of two distinct forms, the location of p form facilities is considered. The p median problem formulation and solution is not necessarily a clear issue. Complexity arises due to the hierarchy of facilities and the transmission of goods and services. A systematic classification of hierarchy-oriented location problems is promulgated. Flow is assumed to be from a lower level to higher level facility regardless of the particular transport instance. Tables of ratio data are included.

A pesudo-polynomial algorithm for detecting minimum weighted length paths ina network
Article Abstract:
The all-pairs minimum average weighted length path problem (all-pairs problem) is analyzed. The problem requires a solution to the length of a path P* between network nodes in a given network N with minimal journey time for each path. A pseudo-polynomial algorithm is developed for a network with a structure that isnot similar to a negative cycle in the shortest path problem. The tadpole concept, a negative cycle in the shortest path problem, is introduced and proven to be NP-complete.
