Profiles of the European Working Groups
Article Abstract:
The European Working Groups (EWG) are part of the rationale underlying the existence of EURO. Ten EWG are studied; eighteen meetings are analyzed. More than one hundred and forty members from twenty-two countries in Europe participate in the EWG. A table of the principal information considered in various EWGs such as multicriteria decisions, operations research in health and education and inventory and production control is included. The history of fuzzy set theory and its definition and applications, as well as other discussion topics of the EWG are highlighted.

Special Products and Uncertainty in Production Inventory Systems
Article Abstract:
Basically, the study of production-inventory has been based on deterministic, item-singular simulation. Such studies have necessarily entailed the stochastic sense of reality as well as links between products and capacity. This research incorporates a queuing notion along with those traditional approaches for the analysis of single stage systems. The situation pertinent to made-to-order products, including stock considerations, special business, and effects on inventory systems is analyzed.

A Model for a Textile Winding Process
Article Abstract:
The determination of efficiency of N machines singularly patrolled under constant walking times is researched. This difficulty of the textile winding process is aided by the development of controls over the procedure. Findings indicate that greater efficiency derives from the operative pause to repair a broken piece of equipment rather than operative continuation. Design impact for this strategy toward better efficiency is analyzed. Extensive tables of statistical repair data are included.
