Article Abstract:

The urethra flows through the center of the prostate gland in a man. The prostate gland is approximately the size of a small orange and produces ejaculatory fluid. The prostate gland begins to enlarge after a man reaches the age of 40 but usually does not cause a problem. However, in 10% of men, the enlargement of the prostate exerts pressure on the urethra and makes urination difficult. Men should have surgery to remove the prostate if the problem begins to interfere seriously with the person's lifestyle. The prostate is removed either through the urethra or through an incision in the abdomen. The operation causes little to no pain, recovery is rapid, and ejaculation is still possible. Fertility is reduced but removal of the prostate does not render a man impotent.

The consumption of fish can lessen the chances of heart attacks. The incidence of coronary disease is affected by diet. In particular, the consumption of saturated fats, such as that found in red meat, is linked to a higher incidence of coronary disease. The consumption of polyunsaturated fat, such as that found in fish, is associated with a lower risk of coronary disease. Research has revealed that people who consume low levels of fish have a higher incidence of heart disease, indicating that fish not only contributes less to coronary disease than saturated fats, but may have properties that protects the heart.
