Hopes of a cure

Hopes of a cure for new-variant Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease (NVCJD), the human form of mad-cow disease, have been raised by Dr Stanley Prusiner. Prusiner and his colleagues suggest that chlorpromazine and quinacrine, both already used to treat brain disease, could be used to treat NVCJD.

Maggots cure: folk remedies
Article Abstract:
Robert and Michele Root-Bernstein's book 'Honey, Mud, Maggots and other Medical Marvels' explains some of the scientific reasons why folk cures often work. They say maggots help heal wounds because the maggots eat dead flesh. Other remedies are discussed.

Banks and technology: cure-all or snake-oil?

Technological information systems have been a huge investment for banks and the returns have not been as great as expected. Banks must learn to use the technology to their best advantage without it creating enormous expenses.
