Hot property
Article Abstract:
Real estate prices have often shown speculative periods, and the bursting of asset price bubbles can affect the economy as a whole. Real estate tends to be illiquid, and market inefficiencies can contribute to bubbles. Investors may have poor information on how much they can make from real estate, while investors have reasons for prices being high when they borrow, and for not investing their own funds when prices fall, so investors' behavior exacerbates the cycle. Banks tend to react slowly, and believe that governments will back them. Investors may also lack the imagination to foresee an asset price fall, which is especially true for stock prices.
