Should we have more family-friendly policies?
Article Abstract:
Family-orientated working practices are those which offer part-time hours, job sharing, flexi-time, paternal leave, maternity pay or day care. Employees are keen to have more flexible working arrangements and although there may difficulties, they are not insurmountable. Companies should consider monitoring recruitment and retention levels, obtain information about family policies, introduce more flexibility at all levels, reward outcomes rather than staff who work long hours, form links with community groups and ensure that the company policies are family-friendly.

Export groups remain optimistic
Article Abstract:
Australian food exporters will be adversely affected by the Asian economic crisis in the short term but can be optimistic about medium- and long-term prospects. Eight of the top 10 export markets for Australian food exporters are Asian countries. The critical importance of food for consumers and Asian desires to consume Western foods will continue to help Australian food exporters.
