How to achieve quality
Article Abstract:
Quality management should be fundamental to the way people and organisations work. It involves thorough understanding of the organisation and documentation of procedures with the aim of meeting the needs of the customer in the most efficient way. Successful quality management depends on communication and commitment. All firms, however small should be aiming to meet customer needs and to minimise errors however, the desision to apply for assessment and certification under BS 5750 will depend on individual circumstances.

Seeking quality in Sweden
Article Abstract:
The choice of Stockholm, Sweden, as the European City of Culture in 1998 has re-awakened the debate on Swedish architecture and how the city will be seen by visitors. Some practitioners say that modern Swedish architecture is lacking in style and quality, and has deteriorated from its zenith in the 1950s, while others believe that it is functional and popular with those who use it.

Design and build has produce many bad buildings although some companies have consistently performed well in design terms. JT Design Build maintains design integrity and it was one of the first construction companies to respond to environmental concerns. It was purchased by Higgs & Hill in May 1994, whose projects include London's Grand Buildings.
