Financial companies are buying out food and beverage companies and this is especially evident in the United States. Clayton Dubilier acquired Kraft Foodservice for $700 million while Onex bought Martin Bower National Accounts Division for $147 million. Asset disposals have increased during the 1990s and lenders are attracted to the food sector because it generates a stable profit. There is a large amount of private equity available for these investments.

Octopus reaches for sex guide
Article Abstract:
Reed Elsevier has sold its illustrated books division to Octopus Publishing Group in a deal valued at 33 million pounds sterling. The division, which published 'The Joy of Sex', has been disposed of as part of a move to focus on information, business, professional and scientific publishing. The deal was managed by Kleinwort Benson Development Capital (KBDC).
