ICI sells some businesses to Huntsman

Imperial Chemical Industries PLC (ICI) has reached an agreement to sell off some of its industrial chemicals businesses to Huntsman Corp. ICI is selling the businesses for 1.7 billion pound sterling ($2.74 billion). ICI is selling its polyurethanes, titanium dioxide, and selected petrochemicals businesses to Huntsman, the largest privately-owned North American chemicals group. The transaction was expected as both firms were engaged in talks in April 1999.
