IN TECHNET, US CENTRE FORM JV TO OFFER TELEMEDICINE

In Technet Ltd, a Hyderabad-based company which offers internet/intranet based solutions and Concurrent Engineering Research Centre (Cerc) of West Virginia University have tied up to offer field level telemedicine solutions over internet network. Plans for integrating these solutions to government based networks are also in the offing. Cerc has conducted research for over six years on telemedicine in the USA. The two will work to offer these applications in India. They will set up some telemedicine kiosks to demonstrate the technology in a few of their centres in Andhra Pradesh by May or June 1999. Their aim is to introduce these technologies to the rural areas. These technologies will also be shown to the Government. (um)(psr)

KOVAI TDI, EXI JOIN HANDS TO DEVELOP Y2K CONVERSION PACKAGE

Kovai TDI Software Private Ltd (KTSPL) of Coimbatore has tied up with Exi of the US to develop a $2.20 million Y2K conversion package. KTSPL and Exi will simultaneously work on the project from their respective development sites. The project will be completed in one year. The conversion package will convert a proprietary language of Exi's client, Carlzeiss of Germany to C++ in Windows environment. (vv)

Ms Leena Pimpley and Z Prajapati have collaborated with Dhyan Vigyan Computer Services of Pune to develop Aarambh, a school syllabus on CD-Rom. The multimedia package contains the curriculum of the Maharashtra Rajya Pathyapustak Mandal, from standard I to X, in English and Marathi. The CD-Rom contains animations, graphics and video clippings of events, places and experiments. (khr)
