INDAL NET UP 71%, TO PAY 20% DIVIDEND

Indian Aluminium Company Limited (Indal) has reported a 71 percent rise in the net profit to Rs38.5 crore during the first half of 1998-99. It proposes to pay an interim dividend of 20 percent for the period (15 percent during the first half of 1997- 98). During the period, it also reported a five percent rise in the total sales and operating income to Rs570.72 crore. (ag)

The net profit for the third quarter of 1998-99 of Indian Aluminium Company Ltd (Indal) went down by 56 percent to Rs9.8 crore from the second quarter profit of Rs22.4 crore. However, Indal reported a net profit of Rs48.3 crore during the nine-month period ended December 31, 1998, a 37 percent increase from that of 1997. (kp)(m)
