INDIAN BLUECHIPS TARGET MAURITIUS TO SET UP BASE

Leading corporate houses of India have evinced keen interest in establishing a base in Mauritius. Mauritius is a tax haven. The companies that have shown interest in Mauritius include the Tatas as well as a host of pharmaceutical, hospitality and textile companies. Mauritius is trying to source investments from India. It is also trying to source technical manpower in the sectors of tourism, information technology, financial services, precision engineering, textiles and printing press. Mauritius in turn proposes to help India's coastal states in developing their tourism infrastructure. (ag)(psr)

BNP TO SOON SET UP BANKING OUTFIT
Article Abstract:
Banque Nationale de Paris (BNP) of France has decided to set up an investment banking subsidiary in India to be named BNP Prime Peregrine India Pvt Ltd. BNP will hold a 75 percent stake in the new company while the rest will be privately held by two Indians. The new subsidiary will concentrate on corporate finance and equity broking including broking services on the Bombay Stock Exchange and the National Stock Exchange. (khr)
