CHINA: HOW INDIA MEASURES UP
Article Abstract:
China is India's biggest competitor in textiles and readymade garments. The US and the European Union are India's biggest markets, where exporters are protected by the multi-fibre arrangement until 2005 AD. Competition from China will also increase in the bulk drugs and chemicals segments although it imports some of these products from India. In the future manufacturers of electronic goods, mechanical appliances, plastics and metal products must get ready to face increased competition from China. (khr)
